A 10-month-old child has miraculously survived after her father allegedly grabbed her by the legs and threw her to the ground in a drunken rage, police in Pursat’s Bakan district said yesterday.
The suspect, 26-year-old farmer Mul Khim, also known as Khlei, was sent to court on Saturday, according to district police chief Pen Tung.
“My office [preliminarily] charged him with intentional domestic violence, serious injury and child rights abuse,” he said.
According to Tung, on Thursday afternoon Khim came home drunk to his home in Romcheck commune and demanded his wife prepare a meal for him, flying into a rage when she said she was too busy.
Khim then allegedly struck his wife, prompting her to flee the house to seek help, leaving the couple’s two children behind.
While she was gone, Tung continued, the suspect allegedly grabbed his 10-month-old daughter’s legs and threw her onto the ground, causing serious injury.
Tung said the infant is now recovering in hospital and in stable condition.
