Ancient Chinese bamboo slips displayed at UN headquarters

UNITED NATIONS, Aug.(Xinhua) -- An exhibition on ancient bamboo slips showcasing the early Chinese civilization debuted at the UN headquarters on Tuesday.
Themed on "Chinese Classics Inscribed on Bamboo slips", the event displays photos and illustrations of the bamboo manuscripts collected by Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities in China.

111 Ghanaian students get Chinese government scholarships
ACCRA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- As many as 111 Ghanaian students have been granted Chinese government scholarships in the 2013-2014 academic year, twice as many as last year, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Gong Jianzhong said here Tuesday.
"As an important part of bilateral relations, China has all along attached great importance to the China-Ghana cooperation in the field of education and strongly supported the development of human resources and personnel training in Ghana," Gong said at a reception in his residence.

Monitoring techniques help preserve world heritage
LANZHOU, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Monitoring carbon dioxide and humidity in the world heritage-listed Mogao Grottoes has been introduced to better protect the caves, experts with Dunhuang Academy said.
The grottoes, known for their Buddhist statues and frescoes, are near the oasis city of Dunhuang in southwest China's Gansu Province, a key stop-off point along the ancient Silk Road.
German students learn kung fu in Tianjin
BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A group of 15 teachers and students from the Blue Dragon Martial Arts School in Munich, Germany traveled to the Tianjin University of Sport to study the martial arts for 14 days.
During their visit, students will gain professional training on martial art techniques such as using a machete, spear, sword, stick, along with boxing and free combat styles all based on their specialties.
